Approfondissement de la connaissance de la langue et de la philologie sanskrites.
Cahier des charges
Le cours magistral est consacré à la lecture commentée de textes épiques et purâniques, de la poésie "classique" (kâvya) ou de la littérature dite narrative. Aux commentaires sur la langue, la formulation littéraire ou l'arrière-plan culturel, s'ajoute une initiation philologique aux questions d'édition, comprenant la lecture des manuscrits et des scholies anciennes. Le travail hebdomadaire de l'étudiant consiste en la translittération préalable des textes en devanâgarî. A côté du cours magistral, chaque étudiant prépare par lui-même un texte choisi en fonction de ses centres d'intérêt et de son niveau d'étude.

The lectures are devoted to the commented reading of texts from the epicsand purânas, the classical poetry (kâvya) or the narrative literature. To the commentaries on the language, the literary expressing and the cultural context, is added a philological training in the editorial problems, including the reading of manuscripts and early scholia. The hebdomadary work of the student is to begin with the transliteration of the texts in devanâgarî. Besides the lectures, each student prepares by himself a peculiar text, chosen according to his interest and his level of learning.
