We have the possibility to open the programme to Ukrainian scholars, PhD students or any Ukrainian candidate who hold an undergraduate degree in the social and humanitites or have relevant professional and/or personal experience (validation of acquired experience). Good command of English is necessary (the courses are entirely delivered in English).
Participants can follow the learning paths whenever they want. There are no collective meetings that are compulsory. When we organize discussions within the group, we choose the most appropriate date for all participants (doodle). The approach is very flexible.

 

The Memory Studies training aims to bridge the gap between academic studies on memory, remembrance, and commemoration on the one hand, and the professional fields and activities that directly or indirectly touch upon and concern memory and its related questions.
The vast diversity of fields involved in memory studies leads to a necessary analytical complexity that risks being ignored in practice in favor of a tunnel vision.

By offering a multidisciplinary perspective, the course aims to counter this phenomenon by proposing five different disciplinary approaches, which will highlight not only the complexity of these questions, but also their complementarity and integrative character. From a thematic focus, the training develops a transversal understanding of the issues related to memory.

 

Your profile

The primary audience is composed of professionals, artists and activists whose activities are in some way related to issues of memory. They are mainly (but not exclusively) the following socio-professional groups:

  • Graduates in the humanities and social sciences who work in fields in which issues of memory, remembrance and commemoration play a (prominent) role;
  • NGO workers, humanitarian workers, and civil activists working in the areas of conflict resolution, human rights, peacekeeping and peacebuilding, and transitional justice;
  • Workers and employees of museums and memorial institutions;
  • Artists addressing and dealing with issues related to the transmission of memories.
