Specific Admission Requirements
Specific Admission Requirements
1° Student must hold a first level university degree.
2° Courses are available to students in several languages (French, English, Dutch, Spanish and Italian). For each language selected, students must prove they have attained Level B2+ of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
3° Student must have followed training including at least 30 credits in linguistics and/or 'sciences du langage', including the following 2 courses (or their equivalent) : LFIAL1530 'Introduction aux sciences du langage' (4 credits) and LFIAL1560 'Linguistique générale' (3 credits).
4° Student must demonstrate :
⇒ sufficient skills in the French language, of both a written and oral nature;
⇒ the capacity to develop an argument on the language heard as a general sign and not just a linguistic sign;
⇒ an understanding of the way language works internally (basic units and structures, contemporary theories) and externally (relationship with other disciplines).
If student does not have sufficient training in one or several of these subjects, prerequisites will be added to the masters programme (maximum 15 credits).
The 30 credits of the Minor in Linguistics [30.0] satisfy these requriements.
Course equivalences are submitted for approval to the chairman of the jury, the secretary of the jury and the academic faculty secretary.
