The admission requirements must be met prior to enrolment in the University.
General requirements
Subject to the general requirements laid down by the academic authorities, admission to the specialized Master’s degree programme will be granted to students who fulfil the entry requirements for studies leading to the award of a Master’s (second-cycle) degree and who hold a second-cycle diploma, degree, certificate or other qualification issued within or outside the French Community of Belgium, or whose prior learning or experience has been accredited by the Examination Board as being equivalent to at least 300 credits.
Specific Admission Requirements
The Advanced Master’s in Gender Studies is open, without the need to complete any additional programme, to students holding a Master’s degree [120], awarded within the French or the Flemish Community of Belgium, in one of the following subjects:- Philosophy
- Theology
- Languages, literature and translation studies
- History, art history and archaeology
- Information and communication
- Political and social science
- Legal studies
- Criminology
- Economics and business management
- Psychology and education
- Public health
For holders of any other qualification, either Belgian or foreign, admission is based on their academic record; provided that students have proven personal or professional experience and/or that their previous academic results are deemed satisfactory by the Admissions Policy Committee, in accordance with a decision by this Committee and subject to the additional conditions that it lays down, admission is granted to students who hold:
- a Master’s degree other than those listed above, awarded within the French or the Flemish Community of Belgium or by the Royal Military Academy;
- or a second-cycle degree corresponding to one of the aforementioned qualifications, awarded within the French Community of Belgium in accordance with the provisions predating the Decree of 31 March 2004;
- or qualifications obtained abroad that are deemed to be comparable with those mentioned above and have been accredited by the Admissions Policy Committee as being equivalent to at least 300 credits.
In the latter case , admission to the programme may be subject to enrolment in certain course units of the Master’s programmes organized by the various partner institutions (a total of no more than 15 credits), if the Admissions Policy Committee is of the opinion that the applicant requires refresher training in any specific area.
Open to adults
The Advanced Master’s in Gender Studies is also open to people with work experience (admission based on academic record), subject to the conditions set out in article 119 of the Decree of 7 November 2013. These students will be able to explore gender issues in theory and practice in greater depth, allowing them to advance their professional career in this field or pursue a new career in this field. The theoretical aspects of the course perfectly complement the practical dimension (in particular through the internship), ensuring that students get the most out of their training.
