The certificate in musicology is designed to give students studying any other subject training in musicology and, in so doing, to introduce them to the world of music, culture and contemporary music creation. The advanced training is designed to refine the tools and skills acquired during the basic training. The programme is as much focused on the history of music as more contemporary issues of musical language, sociology, analysis and aesthetics. It puts emphasis on access to and dialogue with the musical world of today, whilst at the same time requiring from students the academic rigour of classic musicological methodology.
This course is designed for adults who, in the context of lifelong learning, wish to develop their knowledge of music: people already engaged in professional life, whether in music or not, and who wish to follow
a university training course; and students from musical institutions musicales (e.g. IMEP - Institut supérieur de musique et de pédagogie, Royal Conservatoires of Music IAD – Institut des Arts de Diffusion, etc.) who, immersed in the practice of music, wish to have a more theoretical and/or more critical training course.
