The Certificate in Musicology is designed provide students of any subject with training in musicology to introduce them to the world of music, culture and contemporary musical creation. The advanced training builds on and refines the tools and skills acquired from basic training.
The programme focuses both on the history of music and on more contemporary issues of musical language, sociology, analysis and aesthetics; it stresses the importance of openness and dialogue with today’s musical world, while at the same time providing students with the rigour of a classic university level musical methodology.
This course is designed for adults who, in the context of lifelong learning, wish to develop their musical side: people already involved in professional life, whether musical or not, and who wish to have some university level training; students from music institutions (IMEP, the Royal Music Conservatoires, IAD, etc.) who, as practitioners of music, wish to have a more theoretical and/or more critical training programme.
