The Master in Biblical Studies provides in-depth training in exegesis and biblical languages (Old and New Testaments). This programme is unmatched in the world of Francophone universities. For this reason, it is likely to attract students from abroad, in particular due to the expertise it offers in narrative analysis. A particularly positive aspect of the course concerns the active involvement of the faculty in RRENAB (réseau international de recherche en analyse narrative des textes bibliques). Foreign students are often attracted to the idea of specialising in the reception of seminal texts (ancient times and Renaissance) and in contemporary hermaneutics.
Through activities geared towards examining methods and broadening skills, the research focus helps the student acquire the necessary skills when it comes to research in the field of biblical studies. For its part, the teaching focus provides teacher training. In the various areas of 'sciences bibliques' (Bible science) – languages (additional modules in Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek), Biblical history and culture, exegesis methods, reading and hermeneutics of the texts of both Testaments - the student is invited to address specific issues and also learns how to take a rigorous approach to his work, how to master specialist exegesis instruments and develop a critical mind.

This Master can complete the Master in Theology, provided it is combined with 1 extra year of study.
On successful completion of this programme, each student is able to :
1. Maîtriser des connaissances spécialisées indispensables pour pouvoir étudier avec expertise les textes bibliques.
2. Étudier et interpréter les textes bibliques de manière cohérente en mobilisant une réflexion herméneutique pertinente et une exégèse méthodologiquement rigoureuse.
3. Développer une recherche exégétique sur un sujet spécifique (particulièrement dans le mémoire).
4. Développer et justifier une réflexion personnelle sur le rôle de la Bible en regard de questions de société importantes et susciter la réflexion sur la Bible comme source d’inspiration dans l’histoire et dans la culture contemporaine.
5. Communiquer et dialoguer de manière professionnelle et respectueuse en s’adaptant à ses interlocuteurs et au contexte.
6. Agir en acteur universitaire critique et responsable, soucieux de valeurs éthiques, en exerçant un regard réflexif et se projeter dans une logique de développement continu.
