The preparatory year provides students with some basic skills in linguistics to help them sucessfully follow the Master [120] in Linguistics.
The programme is composed mainly of introductory courses to linguistics to supplement students' initial training. It focuses particularly on courses which help students consider language as a « global semiotic sign » and not only linguistic. Students must possess a certain number of essential concepts in order to understand how a language functions, both internally (units and basic structures, contemporary theoretical trends) and externally (links with other disciplines).
