Programme by subject

The student should take the following remarks into account in choosing his courses:

1. Optional courses

Should he desire, the student can add one or the other "optional course" to his first year programme, to a maximum of 6 credits. This procedure may prove interesting in terms of the choice of a minor that he will make in the 2nd and 3rd years of the bachelor's programme. Nevertheless, note the following points:

1. The one or more optional courses the student takes are thereby part of his 1st year programme, like any other courses making up this programme

2. The credits thus added to the first year programme entail an equivalent lightening of the minor programme, so that the bachelor's programme always involves a total of 180 credits

2. The end of cycle project

In accomplishing this work, the student will prove his capacity to develop a first research project in philosophy of a certain size. Particularly, he will show his aptitude for mastering a philosophical subject and treating it in an informed and coherent way, making valuable use of research tools to satisfy the academic criteria in vigour, arguing and writing correctly, in a clear and structured way, exposing the results of his research and defending them in the presence of a jury composed of his promoter and a reader.

3. Erasmus

As of the 3rd year of the bachelor's programme, students can benefit from Erasmus mobility. Yet it may prove preferable to reserve this opportunity for the 2nd cycle, since each student can only benefit from the advantages of Erasmus mobility once during his studies. In this context, another possibility for mobility is offered to 3rd year baccalaureate students which in no way impedes the possibility of their having recourse to Erasmus mobility in the 2nd cycle. This involves the student mobility agreement existing between the Institut supérieur de philosophie and the Hoger Instituut voor Wijsbegeerte of KULeuven, which last organises a baccalaureate programme in philosophy in Dutch and in English. For all information, cf. the administrative secretariat of the faculty.
