Core courses

The core subjects include courses devoted to

  • the essential elements of the Louvain approach to anthropology
  • theoretical cross-disciplinary issues
  • area studies in anthropological analysis (kinship, family, gender ; environment, trade, social change ; politics, town, space management ; ethnology and intercultural relations)
  • the presentation of their findings by internationally renowned lecturers (Leclercq Chair)
  •  practical research, through an important group of courses and seminars which bring together the methodology of the area study and help in producing the monograph. This will enable students to produce their own ethnographic study either on distant ground or closer to home.
