UCL offers two minors in development, aimed at different target audiences. This one, entitled "Development and Environment", is mainly designed to provide a way of being able to interpret environmental issues linked to development, based on quantitative methods and the associated tools for analysis. It is designed for students who are motivated by a rigorous and formal approach. Students completing this minor will acquire skills in description, in understanding and explanation which involve elements from ecology (biology, major cycles), economics and geopolitics. This abundance of different points of view, each with its own rigour, is vital for the identification of relevant questions and finding effective solutions in the field of the environment and et development, as is clearly demonstrated by the problems of sustainable management of natural resources on a global scale.
Since they will develop students’ skills in a logical and progressive way, certain courses are prerequisite for other more advanced ones. Students should follow these sequences.
