This bachelor’s programme provides a specific training in one of the following fields of Oriental Studies:
1) Languages and Civilisations of Egypt and the ancient Near East, including the Biblical world,
2  Languages and Civilisations of Byzantium and the Christian East, including the Caucasus,
3) Languages and Civilisations of the Arab and Muslim world,
4) Languages and Civilisations of India and the Far East.

The specific training in Oriental studies aim to develop (and evaluate) skills in four main areas :
- philological and historical skills (decipherment and interpretation of ancient Oriental texts)
- communication skills (oral and written)
- research competence (in the field of Oriental philology).
Some courses  will involve oral and/or written evaluations throughout the year. The evaluation of seminars and practical exercises will involve more substantial participation of the student as well as the assessment of individual work.
