Advanced Master in Interdisciplinary Analysis of European Construction [60.0] - EUSL2MC

The programme for the Advanced Master in Interdisciplinary Analysis of European Construction (part time and evening course) offers, for those already working in a professional capacity, a multidisciplinary training course on European integration, the institutions and policies, which leads to the award of an Advanced Master university degree.

The programme offers instruction in the legal, economic, political, historical and political science aspects of European integration as well as interdisciplinary topics on the themes and aspects of the unification process. It also includes the production of a dissertation which is an opportunity for students to personalize the intellectual investment they have made in European studies. 

The training for this programme is demanding both because of the in-depth nature of the courses and the wide variety of knowledge it provides on all aspects of European integration, including opportunities to consider more deeply the subjects taught and to adopt a critical attitude towards them. But it provides students with intellectual resources that prepare them to go on to work professionally in areas in close touch with European affairs.   

The structure of the programme (see below) comprises the disciplinary foundations in addition to teaching on the main areas of European policies. 

The programme, which lasts a year, is organized jointly by the Institute of European Studies at UCL and the Facultés universitaires Saint-Louis (where the courses are held).

This programme of 60 credits is made up of 270 hours of courses and seminars worth 45 credits, as well as a final assignment for 15 credits. The core subjects account for 30 credits and are organized in the first semester : they are made up of courses on different disciplines and an interdisciplinary seminar entitled ‘Thinking Europe’.

The second semester is devoted to the production of a final assignment (15 credits) and the analysis of the dimensions and means of European policies for 15 credits.  

To support students in producing their final assignment, there is an introduction to sources of information and documentation on Europe. Students must be given a positive assessment for this part before they can go on to the final assignment. 

All the courses are held at the Facultés universitaires Saint-Louis, three times a week for three hours per session (18.00 – 21.00).

Students may request to have their programmes staggered over two academic years.
