Main themes
In order to achieve this end, the students will - study some texts selected in the Old Testament in accordance with a methodological problem or a thematic question; - learn to practice, individually and collectively, an accurate exegetical method; - use in that work the specialised exegetical tools.
Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 - master the main procedures of biblical exegesis and apply them in studying a text from the Old Testament ;
 
2 - use specialised exegetical tools (bibliographical works, manual and electronic concordances, encyclopaedic and theological dictionaries) ;
 
3 - communicate clearly and highlight the results of his/her research.
 
Content
Old Testament and Ancient Near Eastern inscriptions
This course is devoted to the "comparative" method, which sheds light on biblical texts using inscriptions found in the Levant, Mesopotamia and Egypt. In each case, a biblical text will be compared with one or more epigraphic documents.
Teaching methods
Presentations by the teacher during the very first sessions, followed by interactive study of texts, and finally oral presentations by students.
Evaluation methods
Oral presentation (20-30 minutes).
Attendance is required. In accordance with article 72 of the General Regulations for Studies and Examinations, the professor may propose to the jury that a student who has not attended at least 80% of the courses be refused registration in the January/June or September session.
