the course LARKO2342 Aegean Archaeology – bisannuel 5 Crédits 45h
Main themes
The seminar focuses on specific problems of interpretation associated with the reconstruction of social and political connections on the basis of archaeological data from the Bronze Age and Iron Age in the Mediterranean (Italy, Continental Greece, Cyprus).
Content
Students are invited to participate in a series of seminars taught by doctoral and senior researchers. These seminars deal with Aegean and Greek archaeology in all its aspects. Students are also invited to participate in round tables or colloquia organized at UCLouvain or elsewhere.
Teaching methods
May vary from year to year: considering the research developed on these themes at UCLouvain, students may be required to attend lecture cycles during the year and to make a critical analysis at the end of the cycle. The seminar may also involve a trip to the Aegean with personal research on a settlement or monument in Greece or Cyprus, followed by an oral presentation. It can also take the form of an in-depth analysis of articles on a specific subject, followed by an oral presentation (PPT) by the students.
Evaluation methods
Continuous assessment of student participation in the seminars (15%) and personal production in the form of a critical analysis of all presentations attended by the student (85%).
