Prerequisites

• To have achieved LSIGN1102 or to have a similar level in LSFB (which will be tested at the beginning of the year)
• To be able to understand written explanations in French.

Main themes

Communication topics are given only as examples. They will be approached in relation with the targeted language level!
Communication topics : the World Deaf Day, work environment, politics, travels, projects, news, past events, deaf culture, etc.
Grammar : Deepening of the concepts covered during LSIGN1101 and LSIGN1102 as well as rhetorical questions, aspect, manneer, imperative, rhythm, etc.

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

At the end of this learning unit, the student must have reached (lower) B1 level of the CEFRL (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) and this, in the three abilities below: Delayed comprehension (with videos) Live comprehension (with videos or from the teacher) Signed production

Content

This learning unit consists in deepening the concepts covered during LSIGN1101 and LSIGN1102 and ensure that the student is autonomous in LSFB in various (familiar) settings of everyday life. 

Teaching methods

Group lessons only with homework to be done.

• Comprehension exercices with videos (live or delayed)
• Signed expression exercices
• Directed work (individual or group presentations, group discussions)

Evaluation methods

Continuous assessment (during the year) = 40%

• Attendance and involvement in the course as well as participation to extracurricular activities : 10%
• Signed exercises during both quadrimesters : 10%
• est at the end of the first quadrimester : 20%

Final exam = 60 %
Written exam : 20% :

• Understand a story told in LSFB

Oral exam : 40% :

• Interaction with the teacher or another student.

Open to the students enrolled at UCL!

Equivalent course given in other curricula: Institut libre Marie Haps, cours du soir, langue des signes B1.

Training staff

• A group of 15 students approximately
• The teacher can be contacted by email and can be met in Brussels or Louvain-la-Neuve on appointment.
