Content
Literature is an instrument for analysing social and economic reality. This premise guides the content of the 2022-2023 seminar, which will be dedicated to the analysis of the Spanish novel published since 2008, the date of a serious economic crisis that has profoundly affected Spanish society. Novels characterised by a realistic or dystopian aesthetic that highlights the unresolved conflicts of contemporary Spain will be analysed. Texts written by Belén Gopegui, Rafael Chirbes or Marta Sanz, among others, will offer the corpus. The approach will be twofold. On the one hand, we will look at the way in which the novel relays social conflicts and gives a voice to the voiceless. On the other hand, we will examine how this new "sharing of the sensible" (Rancière)  is dealt with at the level of narrative enunciation and the chronotopic organisation of the novels.
Teaching methods
Preliminary readings will be discussed in seminar. Afterwards, students will produce individual works to share with the group.
Evaluation methods
The assessment will be based mainly on the final written work but will also take into account the participation and the oral presentation.
