Content
The course offers an introduction to the characteristics of modern Italian. In particular, the differences between the standard language and so-called neo-standard, which is in the process of establishing itself, will be analysed. We will cover the freedom of word order in Italian as well as new developments in modes, in the use of verb tenses and in the sequence of tenses.
In the practicals we will review standard grammar, especially verb forms of regular and irregular verbs, verb valency, and the sequence of tenses in standard Italian

First session :
ongoing examination. The students are required to hand a research paper within the first 10 weeks of the semester which will be assessed before the end of the term. The students will then orally present the results of their research. 10 out of 20 are required to access the written examinations.
