At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to : | |
| 1 | Upon completion of the seminar the student should be able to : - Handle a research topic in the area of metaphysics and history of philosophy, basing this treatment on a critical analysis of major works and texts from authors who deal with the theme in question, as well as on contributions made within the framework of the seminar ; - Write a scientific paper dealing with a research topic that is precisely determined and germane to the theme of the seminar ; - Take an active role in cooperative research on metaphysics and history of philosophy, especially through the discussion of contributions made within the framework of the seminar; |
Content
The lecture will allow students to delve more deeply into the work of some of the most important philosophers of the tradition already encountered in the course of metaphysics. We shall especially read extracts from Hegel's Preface to his Phenomenology, from saint Thomas Aquinas' Summa contra Gentiles, from Boethius' Consolation of Philosophy, and from Aristotle's Metaphysics.

Evaluation methods
The written exam will be based on the contents of the course and an essay written by the student. No test shall be taken outside the period of exams.
