Content
This course addresses the evolution and diversity of non-vertebrate animals. After an introduction on the protists, it reviews clades resulting from animal evolution (porifers, cnidarians, platyhelminthes, rotifers, nematodes, molluscs, and arthropods).

The participants will carry out a teamwork which will focus on one of the following two themes:
1. Production of a monograph on a local non-vertebrate species. In addition to a complete description of the animal (external and internal examinations), the monograph will include information on the physiology and behavior of the animal, taken from the literature and from observations made by the participants. Experiments on physiology and behavior can be carried out.
2. Realization of a monograph on an imaginary species, resulting from current organisms, on the basis of phylogenetic, physiological, morphological or behavioral constraints imposed on the team.
