Prerequisites
The student should master the concepts of anatomy, special histology and respiratory pathophysiology (WMDS1224), as well as the basics of immunology and microbiology.

Main themes
Integrated clinical approach to pneumologic diagnosis, integrating elements of clinical, radiological and respiratory functional semiology; rational prescription and contribution of imaging, biology, and / or pathology;
Obstructive bronchial diseases (asthma, COPD, dilations): diagnostic approach, treatment, management of complications;
Interstitial and vascular diseases: when to make a diagnosis, principles of diagnosis and treatment;
Pleurisies: elements of diagnostic and therapeutic orientation;
Respiratory infections-community-acquired pneumonia: outpatient diagnosis and treatment; tuberculosis, atypical mycobacteria, and opportunistic infections: when to think about it and principles of diagnosis and treatment;
Lung cancer (and mesothelioma): emergency symptoms - 1st line diagnosis, principles and support for specialized care and treatment;
Diseases of the mediastinum: key elements of the diagnosis;
Recognized occupational diseases: when to think about it, principles of diagnosis and management;
Pneumo-pediatric diseases: diagnosis and first-line management of asthma and community respiratory infections; principles and support for the diagnosis and management of foreign bodies, bronchopulmonary dysplasia and bronchial dilations (including cystic fibrosis);
Pneumological emergencies (pulmonary embolism, pneumothorax, exacerbations of chronic bronchopathies), chronic cough, or dyspnea: differential diagnosis - 1st line management and 2nd line support;
Respiratory failure, sleep-related apnea: definition and diagnosis, management principles (indications for oxygen therapy and assisted ventilation);
Tobacco and cannabis addiction: management;
Inhaled / pulmonary pharmacology: theoretical bases, practical applications;
Principles, indications, and follow-up of biopsies and surgical resections as well as lung transplantation.
