The 15-hour course will consist of 10 one-and-a-half hour sessions, i.e. 7 class sessions and 3 thematic workshops. Two of these workshops will be led by the students on the basis of personal works (management theories and controversies in librarianship) in order to stimulate debate and reflection. The third workshop will take the form of a professional meeting with the head of the SGL Service de la Lecture Publique (Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles) who will have the opportunity to present her service and the challenges of public libraries.
Evaluation methods
The continuous evaluation during Q1 will cover 30% of the final score: two works by groups (in preparation of workshops 01 and 03) for a total of 6 marks.
The oral exam will be held during the session and will cover 70% of the final score: the analysis of datas (with comments) during an “open book” preparation will represent 5 marks, the 9 other will consist of a direct interview about 3 theoretical questions.
Other information
The calendar, course slides, bibliography and other information are all accessible to students on the UCLouvain Moodle platform.
This biennial course is complementary to the LCLIB2120 course (2018-2019, 2020-2021, etc.) as both courses provide a comprehensive overview of library management and bibliometrics issues. Nevertheless, each course remains independent of the other and neither of the two is a prerequisite for the other.
