Main themes
This seminar introduces the student to the development of critical thinking, at the heart of university teaching; several themes are addressed: preconceptions, decoding of discourse, evaluation of the quality of sources, scientific approach, overview of data analysis methods.
The seminar supports students in writing a short individual essay on current issues that respects the codes of academic text writing. The elaboration of the work implies for each student a cross practice on the following aspects:

- The development of a research question
- Research and critical confrontation of sources
- The analysis of a disciplinary theme
- Critical reflection based on a disciplinary theme
- The use of the written French language for the drafting of an academic document
Aims

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 At the end of this learning unit, the student will be able to (specific AA):
- to show an increased intellectual autonomy in documentary research and criticism of sources;
- to elaborate and transmit a personal production meeting the academic criteria in his/her discipline;
- to demonstrate a spirit of synthesis in the way of dealing with a problem.
