Aims

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

This unit contributes to the acquisition and development of the following learning outcomes, as assigned to the Master's degree in translation: 2.1, 2.3, 2.6, 2.7, 4.6, 4.7, 8.3 and 8.5.
Specific learning outcomes on completion of teaching unit
On completing this unit the student is able to:
  • Take part in a translation process with a full understanding of the final stakes of quality control;
  • Participate in a translation project as junior translator and contribute to the successful completion of the project;
  • Distinguish between translation error and translator/reviser preference.
 
Content
- Students will:
- be introduced to the theory of Quality Assurance (brief overview of the QA history, ISO, European and national standards for translation services, going from proofreading to QA, etc.) and the purpose of the quality assurance process;
- study different QA processes implemented in translation agencies ;
- read material related to the QA process ;
 
- Various exercises and/or assignments
