Contribution of teaching unit to learning outcomes assigned to programme This unit contributes to the acquisition and development of the following learning outcomes, as assigned to the Master's degree in translation : 1.4 2.7 4.3, 4.4, 4.5 6.3 8.1, 8.5 AA-FS-AIE. Develop expertise and a high level of competence in specialized translation in the field of international relations under different headings (diplomacy, geopolitics, geostrategy, etc.) incorporating elements specific to this sphere: adapt to text-type (treaties and agreements, speeches, reports, monographs, etc.) and to the particular requirements of the client (national and international organisations and institutions, NGO's, diplomatic services, research institutes, etc.). Content
The Specialised Translation Seminar in International Affairs will focus on the management of a translation project from Spanish into English pertaining to the domain of international affairs. With the lecturer's guidance, the student will manage the different stages of the translation process from the translation request to delivery. The source text(s) in the field of international affairs will be translated with the assistance, where appropriate, of computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools (SDL Studio©, MultiTrans© and/or Sketch Engine©).
