The course aims at studying local politics through different dimensions: local government systems, mayors’ role and political career, local democracy, the preparation of voters’ lists, political parties at the local level, electoral participation and the repertoire of actions of local political actors.
At the end of the seminar and based on active participation, works and interations, the students will have a global view on some of the most recent developments in comparative local politics.

The course proposes a series of sessions related to the above-mentioned different dimensions of local politics in a comparative perspective.
Evaluation methods

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the information in this section is particularly likely to change.

Evaluation is based on a written paper, oral presentation and active in-class participation.
