Aims

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 By the end of the activity, the student will be capable of recognizing the scientific character of a publication, of distilling the intentions and structuring elements of the scientific reasoning as well as writing a synthesis and argued critique.
The activity contributes to developing a scientific and critical spirit of the students, as well as the capacity of situating different theoretical and epistemological frames.
 
Content
The activity aims at preparing the student to university work and thesis writing. It is complementary to the courses « méthode I » and « méthode II », and runs through the whole master program.  During this complementary module, the students will get familiar with issues that characterize scientific research and its diversity in the humanities. More specifically, the activity aims at familiarizing the students to what characterizes a scientific text, through the reading and analyzing of scientific publications (articles or book chapters) and the writing of a synthesis.
Evaluation methods

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the information in this section is particularly likely to change.

The activity will be certified through the reading of a scientific text (within domain of social, economic and/or political processes), documentary research and the writing of a synthesis of scientific publications. The modalities of second session are identical.
Other information
The activity is based on research examples in various disciplines of the humanities, as well as scientific publications (articles of book chapters). No reference book in particular.
