Main themes
This course provides an introduction to contemporary theories and practices of landscape projects. It is based on a tension between the acquisition of fundamentals (definition of the landscape concept and major references for the different historical typologies of projects/practices) on the one hand, and contemporary landscape issues such as climate adaptation, water management, urban development, etc. on the other hand. The fundamentals developed in the course are put into perspective in the face of contemporary challenges/practices thanks to the participation of an annual visiting professor involved in applied approaches and research.
The articulation between the provision of fundamentals and the presentation of applied approaches allows the student to:
  • Acquire knowledge and a reference framework on the concept of landscape in its various approaches (sensitive, geographical, environmental, etc.);
  • Question and critically examine the current status of the landscape issue in the context of current territorial development;
