Teaching methods

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the information in this section is particularly likely to change.

This is a flipped classroom class. The first step consists in an comprehensive preparation of the class session by the students, who will have access to documents (texts, videos) on the Moodle UCL platform as well as series of exercises to help them reinforce their understanding of the documents. In class, students will have a chance to ask for clarifications for any questions they may have after the preparation, get exercises to improve some lexical and grammatical points, and participate in speaking activities.
Students will also have to prepare a presentation on a subject related to computer science. Training in presentation techniques is also part of the course.
Evaluation methods

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the information in this section is particularly likely to change.

  • Continuous assessment will be based on class activities (10 %) and the work and prepartion on the Moodle UCLouvain platform (10 %). It will also include a self-tuition vocabulary test (10 %) and a pronunciation test (10 %).
  • A written production will be due at the end of the cycle, which will be presented orally (30 %)
  • The students will be asked to create and submit a presentation/video project based on one of the unit themes (30 %).
  • An eventual second evaluation session will be based on the entirety of the course material with a written and oral production.

Attendance is compulsory.
