These objectives will be achieved after
- an analysis on a main period in Israel history showing the proper aspects of historical and archeological methods;
- a critical reading of some important studies on the studied period and on the main archeological sites;
- an initiation to the use of the main tools.

Aims
At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to : | |
1 | - understand the main process used in defining a biblical era (historical criticism of biblical and extra-biblical sources) ; |
2 | - evaluate the interest of archeology of Palestine for the study of ancient sites and as support for the history of the Israelite people as seen in the literary and historical biblical and extra-biblical sources ; |
3 | - read critically the secondary literature (historical and archeological publications) on the subject ; |
4 | - use of the main tools in the field. |
