Main themes
This course provide students critical tools to address contemporary ecological and social crises and their link to development issues. It offers a space to think collectively and critically on decisions and initiatives to address these crises.
Aims

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1. assess the relevance of available information ;
 
2. discuss scientific and critical litterature ;
 
3. expose the link between the socio-political dimensions of development and contemporary ecological and social crises and being able to think critically and prospectively about these issues.

Content
The course have three parts: (1) An in-depth study of the link between development and ecological issues (climate change, ecosystems damages, etc.) (2) Analyses of the way that ecological crises reconfigures politics (conformation of collectives, projects and visions, political narratives etc.) (3) Case studies
Teaching methods
The course will by divided into lectures, participatory workshops and case studies. The students will also have to read two designated books.
Evaluation methods
The examination will be divided between: 
- assignments on the books and the case studies
- participation during the year
- a final individual oral exam
In case of a second exam, the teacher decides on an appropriate examination procedure.
