Main themes
Through the analysis of texts or representative theatrical events, lessons propone a synthetic route into French language theater from the Revolution to the present day. Continuities and ruptures are highlighted under tree perspective: dramaturgic, aesthetic and historical. Various issues will be deepened, according to eras discussed and analyzed texts.
Aims

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 Students will be required to place the major authors and main movements in the history of the French theatre, and identify connections with the big names of theatre around the world.

Content
The lessons are built around a date, an event and a question: the aim is to highlight structuring aspects of the history of French theater. Each presentation introduce to one or more questions and confronts the students with the works themselves, through the analysis of one or more extracts. Links with other works are systematically established and very selective bibliographic supplements are proponed for a possible deepening by the student, as part of a personal work he will have to present to the exam.
