Prerequisites
The course is open to students having followed the minor in musicology or having basic music knowledge.
Main themes
Analysis of various musical composition systems, from the dark ages up to now.
Aims

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 Deepening of students' competences in musical analysis, both in the fields of tonal music and other writing types.

Content
The course begins with an introduction to the evolution of the language of western music, known as "savante".
Then, it deepens some musical "grammars" significant for the study of music sheets and an analytic listening of chosen works. 
Teaching methods
Magistral lectures and exercices.
Evaluation methods
Continuous assesment for the exercices and exam at the end of the year.
