Main themes
A further cumulative experience of architectural design. . A question is posed: Either the program participates in the institutional evolution of culture. Or cultural mutations instigate new programs and new means of expression. Or institutions and culture are in a relation of mutuality. The way in which the question is posed will allow students to understand and evaluate the import of political, social, economic and philosophical situations within society and their effects on the built environment. The studio will include a theoretical introduction, as well as a presentation of case study references that may serve to support the evaluation of the project. Questions of soil mechanics and geotechniqes, siting, geometry, mass, volume, public/private, served/servant, thresholds, foundations, structure, HVAC, etc., will be addressed.
Aims
