At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to : | |

Provide a foundation course in Dutch phonetics, phonology and morphology. The students should also be able to analyse reference books with a criticizing mind. |

Content
The course is an introduction to Dutch phonetics, phonology and morphology.
Phonetics and phonology (vowels, diphthongs, consonants; co-articulation; accentuation and intonation).
Morphology (especially lexical morphology, loanwords and neologisms).

Teaching methods
Mixed approach of lectures, reading of scientific articles and exercises.
Evaluation methods
Written (60%) and oral (40%) exam. At the oral exam special attention will be paid to the language skills (in particular the pronunciation of Dutch).
