Concentration on a key set of issues for the future of Western architecture

• historical and theoretical situation given equal weight
• use of analytical instruments : plans, cross-sections, elevation
• a new issue for each session of the course

Aims

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :
1	The focus of this teaching unit  - understanding the link between writing and building ' involves a lengthy list of the mechanics of composition, from considered and speculative thinking procedures relevant to writing to the practical and architectural procedures relevant to building. Specific learning outcomes: By the end of this course, students are able to find their way in an architectural field using a corpus formed of written and/or built knowledge make use of this corpus to support a reasoned and critical approach in the architectural field revert to the approach and the corpus formed in the architectural field. Contribution to the learning outcome reference framework: build knowledge of architecture Be familiar with and analyse the basic references Be able to use given references which, by analogy, can lead to other interpretations of the context Develop and make use of knowledge in the discipline Make use of other subjects Revert to the subject Make committed choices Make links between different methodological and epistemological perspectives
