Content
The course will review the main topics of scientific metaphysics, epistemology and ethics. Some of the topics that will be addressed are: the notions of observation and experiment in science and how they relate to theories, the debate between scientific realism, instrumentalism and relativim, causation, laws of nature, reductionism and emergence, the nature of mind and its relation to the physical world, ethical concerns about science and technologies in connection with environmental and health issues, questions about the autority of scientific knowledge in the public sphere.
Evaluation methods
The final evaluation will pertain to the student's understanding of the fundamental concepts
exposed during the lessons. It will consist of a written exam
