Main themes
In-depth study of classical Latin Grammar.
This course deals with the following themes:
1. Morphology (advanced level);
2. The fundamental structures of Latin syntax (description of syntactic functions assumed by the Latin noun; study of the semantics and use of cases);
3. The use of tenses and moods, the function and uses of pronouns;
4. Personal analysis and translation of a Latin prose text (cursory reading).
The exercises are devoted to syntax, prose composition and translation from Latin. There are also special exercises intended to morphological and lexical training.

Aims
At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to : | |
1 | By the end of this course the student will have a thorough mastering of the fundamental rules of the nominal syntax of classical Latin, and will have improved his knowledge of morphology. He will also be capable of translating and analysing Latin prose texts (from the Classical and Imperial periods), and of translating from French into Latin (advanced level). |
