The prerequisite(s) for this Teaching Unit (Unité d’enseignement – UE) for the programmes/courses that offer this Teaching Unit are specified at the end of this sheet.
Main themes
The seminar will examine four essential topics related to health economics: (i) a reminder about cost-effectiveness analysis; (Ii) analysis of health financing at the macroeconomic level (including development assistance); (Iii) universal health coverage; (Iv) performance-based financing (PBF) in the health sector
Teaching methods
1) Three sessions (3 hours each) aimed at presenting the four study themes: explanation of the problem, state of the art, main research methods and sources of information;
2) Group work consisting in developing a draft research protocol on one of the topics addressed. The guidelines will be given during the first session (3 hours), which will also identify research questions to be investigated by the students. Then, the equivalent of 3 sessions (3 hours) will be devoted to the realisation of group work with supervision (possibly remote).
3) A final supervised session (3 hours) will allow students to present their work, submit it to the criticism of other students and of the professor.
