Beside an general introduction to biocompatibility, sterile medical equipment, prosthesis and implants used in various medical specialities are addressed.
Aims
To get knowledge of the indications and the use of a large variety of sterile medical equipment whose management is under the responsability of the hospital pharmacist

), in Cardiac surgery (various types of cardiac valves
), in plastic Surgery (reconstructive surgery
) and Intensive Care Medicine (ventilation, haemodynamic monitoring
)
- Lecture and presentation of materials
Other information
- Basic anatomic and physiologic knowledge are required as the lessons are mainly directed towards pharmacists. Some knowledge about frquent pathologies are also useful.
- The assessment is based on a written examination that mixes open questions and answers and multiple choice questions. Each co-titular is taking part in the elaboration and correction of the questions.
- As the course is mainly dedicated to the presentation, description and the operation of prosthesis, implants and biomaterial, the attendance to the lessons for material visualisation is warmly recommanded.
