The productive command of basic grammar and vocabulary as well as the command of the language skills of the B1- level as described in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
This teaching unit treats subjects about themes that are related to the study programme and the future professional needs of the student. E.g. Videos about child psychology, psychology in the work environment, etc.
Reading Comprehension
At the end of this teaching unit, the student should be able to
- read factual articles concerned with contemporary and field-related subjects and to understand them with a satisfactory level of autonomy.

Individual listening Comprehension :
At the end of this teaching unit, the student should be able to
- follow and to understand the main points of a presentation provided it is clearly structured and the topic is reasonably familiar and field-related,
- understand the main points of most factual radio- and TV programs provided the topic is reasonably familiar and clearly articulated standard language is being used.
Interactive listening comprehension:
At the end of this teaching unit, the student should be able to
- understand most of what is said in an everyday conversation provided standard language is being used, the topic is familiar and without having the interlocutor adapt his language.

Individual speaking skills:
At the end of this teaching unit, the student should be able to
- give (after preparation) a simple and clearly developed presentation on a field-related subject and to manage the following debate.
- explain a viewpoint on a topical issue well enough in order to be understood without difficulty.

At the end of this teaching unit, the student should be able to
- take an active part in discussion in familiar contexts, accounting for and sustaining your views.

- write formal letter in order to pass on factual information and to synthesise information and arguments from a number of sources

- Preliminary oral examination in the last week (week 14) of Q 1
- Vocabulary test and test on lsitening comprehension in the penultimate week of the course (May) 50%

- Lessons in groups of max. 20 students.

Workload -
Classroom hours : 30 h
Self-study (including e-learning): 30 h - Extension of psychology vocabulary . In all cases the vocabulary is presented in context by means of topical listening documents. Additional exercises will have to be done at home (e-learning on the Moodle platform)
- Training and development of listening skills through authentique documents focussing mainly on psychological themes, by means of classroom teaching. Additional exercises will have to be done at home (e-learning on the Moodle platform)
- Training and development of speaking skills in professional contexts by means of classroom teaching . Additional exercises will have to be done at home (e-learning on the Moodle platform).
This teaching unit focuses mainly on oral production.
It deals with themes related to the area of study. Video and audio fragments are used to illustrated the themes. Each theme will be followed by discussions giving the student the possibility to use the newly acquired vocabulary and structures.
