This course is devoted to the study of the Koranic text and its context. The precise themes will be decided in terms of the academic interests of the tutor and his/her colleagues and, when possible and relevant, the interests of the students. The texts will be read analysed from a grammatical, philological and contextual point of view, making reference to the relevant studies.
Analysis, with commentary, of Koranic extracts.
At the end of this course, the student will acquire some knowledge of the formal aspects of the Koranic text. He will be initiated to the problems raised by traditional and modern Koranic exegesis, and to the scientific approach of modern Koranic studies. He will be able to carry out personal research in this field, and of presenting orally the results of a research project of limited dimensions on a specific aspect of the Koranic text.

This text is halfway between a lecture and a seminar. The texts, prepared by the students, are read and analysed jointly. The philological explanations and the commentaries are given by the teacher, but are also the object of a systematic exchange of views with the students.
This course aims to deepen the knowledge of the formal (structure, composition),contextual and philological aspects of the Koranic text, on the basis of a choice of extracts illustrating a specific theme.
An outline bibliography will be given during the course, in function of the texts chosen.
