Main themes

The course explores different fields of analysis. First, it examines the notion of "political integration". Second, it presents the European integration as a unique category which is developing its own process of institution-building through internal evolutions. Finally, the course examines the European political system and its environment. It presents the role and the behaviour of the different actors of the system.

Aims

The aim of the course is to introduce the students to the political analysis of the European Union.

- Meaning of European integration and presentation of the different historical models of political integration. - The European integration as a process of political unification. - The European Union as political system and political regime. - Theories of European integration.
