Main themes
This course aims, on one hand, to familiarize with the theoretical approaches as well as the framework of analy-sis and interpretation of the political dimensions of development. On the other hand, it aims to give an insight of the power dynamics that have an impact on the types of development. It will analyse the evolution of power relations in different contemporary processes. Based on case studies, it aims to point out these changing proc-esses and the relations between the actors involved; to confront to these processes conceptualization attempts; to offer explicatory and prospective hypotheses.
Aims
Develop her/his own analytical skills, the use of information sources, the identification of the main facts, con-ceptualisation skills, and communication of a constructed analysis on the political aspects of development. Develop critical reading skills of the analyses of the changing processes as proposed by the media, academic researchers and social actors in general.

A group work on one of the themes proposed by the professor and the oral presentation of this work. The course material is made of a reading portfolio and a copy of the power point slides used by the professor during the course (available on icampus in the documents file).
