Literary history and previous knowledge of different ways to analyse literary texts.
The seminar will deepen localized issues. Depending on subjects and issues, texts from the sixteenth to the nineteenth century French literature will be selected.
It is thus presented as an introduction to personal research and preparation for the thesis in its various phases (analysis, problem setting, writing) from the point of view of literary history.

Written essay to be prepared individually. This work will lead to an oral presentation during a last session of the seminar. It will have to be returned at the beginning of the examination session.
The seminar is given alternatively by Professors Guiderdoni and Zanone : in 2016-2017, Professor Zanone ; in 2017-2018, Professor Guiderdoni.
Content
In 2016-2017, with Prof. Damien Zanone, the seminar deals with the reading of literary works showing the battle of Waterloo. This will be a way to think the relationships between literature and history.
For 2016-2017 : a complete lis twill be given on Moodle. Some famous works will be in it for their parts about Waterloo : La Chartreuse de Parme by Stendhal, les Mémoires d'outre-tombe by Chateaubriand, Les Misérables by Hugo.
