Main themes

Thorough a one-week trip abroad, or discussion sessions on the campus, the seminar addresses current issues for each of the following periods: Prehistory, Protohistory, Gallo-Roman period, early Middle Ages, late Middle Ages and modern period.

Aims

Advanced seminar for studentsin archeology promoting discussions and encounters on sites, museums and behind the scenes of major institutions, with experts in their fields.

The contribution of this Teaching Unit to the development and command of the skills and learning outcomes of the programme(s) can be accessed at the end of this sheet, in the section entitled “Programmes/courses offering this Teaching Unit”.

Evaluation methods

According to the year : assessment of written reports on the meetings and discussions held on the campus, synthesis about the tours and conferences organized abroad.

Prepared conferences and debates ; prepared one week trip with by specialised visits and meetings.Prepared conferences and debates ; prepared one week trip with by specialised visits and meetings.

Content

The one week trip includes tours, lectures and meetings with experts involved in various institutions and at sites selected for their complementarity with the other courses in archeology. Seminars and tour are taking diachronic and cross-thematic approaches into account.

Bibliography

Bibliography is delivered following the sites to be visited or the themes to discuss during the residential seminar.
