The course deals with the historical and epistemological foundations of Art History and the different interpretative trends analysing works of art.

Content
The course deals with some of the founding methods and theories of the discipline of art history, as well as with other discourses that interpret works of art (linguistic, semiotics, sociology, psychology, anthropology, etc.).
The course will take three main directions: historiography (historical context of these theories), epistemology (critical assessment of the foundations, orientations and transformations of Art History) and hermeneutics (developing interpretative tools).
