Main themes Introduction to the current debate on education based on history and the study of different problems that views, for example in science, anthropology or politics, present for education in order to identify the main philosophical issues.
Aims To enable students 1. to understand the philosophical concepts which drive the main options in education 2. to identify and assess concepts of man conveyed by contemporary human sciences (especially education) 3. to understand the particular nature of human sciences (especially education) and how they are linked with other kinds of knowledge and practice.
Content In addition to lectures, this course includes analysis of the main reference texts as well as discussion of problems in training and the experience of students in the field of education. It employs a teaching strategy adapted to adults includes the link between theory and practice, work in sub-groups, training assessment and group and individual work on the appropriateness of material.

Illustrations from different fields of adult education and training: continuing education, special education, schools, lifelong learning etc. Formal assessment tests understanding of doctrines and the ability to analyze a question relating to education from the perspective of philosophy, anthropology and epistemology. There is particular emphasis on writing ability.
