Main themes |
During this course, students will carry out work on painting, sculpture and architecture (involving them in descriptive and monographic work, using specialist vocabulary and bibliographic research).
They will also gain exposure to how cases are handled in the professional Art History world.
|
Aims |
The aim of this course is to introduce students to the various stages of research involved in Art History and enable them to carry out a scientific study of a work of art or theme, going through the process of documentation, historiography and description.
|
Evaluation methods |
Certificate continuous assessment formalized by the realization of practical works during the academic year on the first hand, and the active participation in the seminar sessions. Success depends on participation to all activities as well as the works realized during the academic year.
In December and May, end-of-term certificate assessments will cover the two individual works on the analysis of a work of art (architectural or sculpted) under both written and oral forms.
In the event of a second registration, the student will have to bring the necessary corrections to the individual works of both May and December.
|
Teaching methods |
Combination of teachers' presentations and interactions with the students (debates, individual or collective presentations, methodology exercises'). These audience sessions are associated with practical works in situ in Belgian or foreign cities. The student's progression through his or her work will be subject to individual monitoring by the teachers and their assistants.

Content |

Building of a personal reflection on the work studied and its context, by associating field observations, documentary research, as well as internal and external criticism.
