Main themes |
The seminar discusses problematic issues and specific problems of interpretation in relation with the use of archaeological sources for the reconstruction of social and political relations during the Bronze and Iron Age in the Mediterranean (Italy, Continental Greece, Asia Minor, Magna Graecia).
|
Teaching methods |
Following an introductory class on the topic by the teacher or an invited speaker, the students are assigned different monuments, towns or regions of Mediterranean lands that have been covered by intensive surveys and for which there is sufficient information on methods of data retrieval and interpretation. Oral and PPT presentations by students followed by critical analysis and discussion, partly on the basis of earlier circulated papers.
